Avengers movie delays should be good news for LEGO Marvel

The next two Avengers movies have been delayed, putting a dent in the Marvel schedule for 2026, but this should be good news for LEGO Marvel.

Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars have been moved from May 1, 2026 and May 27, 2027 to December 18, 2026 and December 17, 2027 respectively. This will leave a significant gap before the next Marvel movie on July 31, 2026 – Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Unless the schedule shifts to move any movies up, this means another quiet year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026, with nothing in the first half of the year to inspire tie-in LEGO sets, save for the potential of Brand New Day builds the usual month before release in June. This is assuming that movie doesn't get delayed as well, like Captain America: Brave New World did.

For comparison, 2025 only has three Marvel movies in its schedule – Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts and the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Only one of these has a set that comes out this year in the form of 76316 Fantastic Four vs. Galactus Construction Figure, since everything for the Captain America film was released at the end of 2024.

The lack of LEGO models for Thunderbolts is unknown, but either way, this more limited schedule has forced the LEGO Marvel designers to get especially creative with sets this year, from a Marvel logo model with pop-out minifigures to a full range of comic-inspired Spider-Man sets.

LEGO Marvel sets confirmed for 2025

The highlights of this surprisingly diverse selection of Marvel models include 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot, 76313 MARVEL Logo, 76321 Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock Subway Train Scene, 76324 Spider-Man vs. Oscorp and 76326 Iron Spider-Man Bust. It's a promising selection so far, expanding the scope of LEGO Marvel with new kinds of builds, returning characters that have not appeared in the main MCU films and even iconic movie moments that needed an updated LEGO set.

The likes of 76311 Miles Morales vs. The Spot and 76321 Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock Subway Train Scene have proved that there's scope and potential for movie models beyond the current era of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, too.

The expansion of LEGO Marvel to include different kinds of builds, including 76313 MARVEL Logo and the new bust collection, also demonstrates how diverse and experimental the LEGO Marvel team is this year. That's not to mention the Spidey and His Amazing Friends dinosaur figures from January.

All of this is happening in a period with multiple Marvel movie delays, and a year with just three films for the LEGO Group to choose from (of which one is exempt from sets entirely). Considering that next year currently only has two Marvel films, it will be worth keeping an eye on LEGO Marvel to see what other sources they use for sets in a year with even more movie drought.

When backed into a corner by delays, the LEGO Marvel team have proven they can roll with the punches and produce some standout sets. They'll currently need to do just that until late 2026 at the earliest, ready for the inevitable tie-in sets for Avengers: Doomsday. That's only speculation on our part, but considering the cast list, at least one model seems all but certain.
