Brand new LEGO Marvel Spider-Man set pops up at LEGO.com

Surprise: a brand new and previously-unannounced LEGO Marvel Spider-Man set has popped up on the official online store.

There are no images of 76219 Spider-Man & Green Goblin Mech Battle yet, but it’s safe to assume we’re looking at something in the vein of last year’s 76198 Spider-Man & Doctor Octopus Mech Battle (which was also revealed out of the blue through LEGO.com).

According to the set description, the 296-piece set will include ‘two monster mechs’, though it’s not clear whether that’s just marketing spiel, or whether the mechs will genuinely resemble monsters. The listing at least states the mechs are ‘bigger and more battle-ready than ever before’, so we could be looking at the biggest Spidey mech yet.

Here’s the official description from LEGO.com:

“Send Marvel fans’ imaginative play to a whole new level with two monster mechs featuring popular Super-Hero minifigures from the Marvel movies. Kids put the Spider-Man minifigure into the cockpit of the Spidey monster mech, with its extra-long, flexible arms and built-in weapons. They put the Green Goblin minifigure into the cockpit of the super villain’s monster mech, with its supersized, grabbing claws and shooters. Then, the battle of the monster mechs begins!”

Spider-Man’s mech measures 11cm tall, while Green Goblin’s stands at over 14cm tall. And as you’ve probably guessed by now, 76219 Spider-Man & Green Goblin Mech Battle includes two minifigures: Spider-Man and Green Goblin. No surprises there, although less clear is whether either of those minifigures will use new designs.

76219 Spider-Man & Green Goblin Mech Battle will launch on April 1, alongside the other three delayed Marvel mechs, for £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99. If you're happy buying blind, it's already available to pre-order in the US, but images of the set will likely follow very shortly.
