Brick Search recently launched the best-ever minifigure scanner as part of Brick Search Plus, but what is actually new about the app’s flagship feature?
The first-ever minifigure scanner was introduced by Brick Search in January 2024, shortly after scannable codes appeared on the base of LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 25 boxes. The app’s existing scanner was adapted to read the data matrix codes, making it quick and easy to discover which minifigure was inside the box.
Scannable codes and the Brick Search app’s market-leading ability to scan them remained for Series 26 in May and Dungeons and Dragons in September, and then, in November, Brick Search announced something new: Brick Search Plus, a new era of community-led design, features and upgrades, the first of which is an updated version of the minifigure scanner.
Brick Search Plus members get unlimited use of a new version of the app’s minifigure scanner, which is faster, easier to use and more convenient than ever before. Here’s a breakdown of the improvements that have been made...
Instant, in-camera results
Scan a code on a minifigure box now with Brick Search Plus and you’ll get the result in the blink of an eye, without a new page having to be loaded. The server powering the scanner has been upgraded and, at the same time, less information needs to be loaded, so the identity of the minifigure in the box can be displayed quicker than ever before.
Scan multiple boxes
Scanning individual boxes can be time-consuming, so now with Brick Search Plus as many as seven boxes can be scanned at once. And the results will still appear instantly in the same scanner screen. You can also quickly add the minifigures to your collection by tapping the blue plus sign that appears with the results, and track how many boxes you've scanned with the scan counter at the top of the scanner page.
Works offline
The Brick Search Plus scanner now works with or without an internet connection. It’ll even work without any mobile data at all. That means minifigure boxes can be scanned anytime, anywhere.
How to become a Brick Search Plus member
To become a Brick Search Plus member, first download Brick Search for your device. It is available for iOS devices here, and Android devices here.
Then, join Brick Search Plus via the My Account menu in the top right of the home screen, and the Upgrade option. You’ll be taken to the Upgrade page.
A Brick Search Plus membership is £19.99 / $29.99 per year, or £1.99 / $2.99 per month. A yearly membership works out at a 16% saving when compared to a monthly membership.
What else do I get as part of my Brick Search Plus membership?
Brick Search Plus members on an annual plan can access the Brick Search Plus Discord. This is where members will first hear about new features coming to the app, and be given the chance to share their thoughts on them. Members will also be canvassed for their ideas on new features, too.
Annual members will also receive a £30 voucher to use with The Minifigure Store (terms and conditions apply; UK and Europe members only), with a voucher for members to use with a retailer in North America coming soon.
There is also a Brick Search Plus newsletter for members, and Brick Search Plus members can access the app’s full LEGO back catalogue of more than 10,000 sets.
