Second giant LEGO Jurassic World dinosaur skeleton rumoured for 2026

Another giant LEGO Jurassic World dinosaur skeleton is rumoured to be on the way in June, following hot on the prehistoric heels of last year’s 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex.

Instagram user lego_minecraft_goat claims that 77985 Triceratops Skeleton will debut this summer, comprised of 1,154 pieces with a retail price of $99.99 in the US and €99.99 in Europe. That’s a considerable step down in size and budget from its T. rex predecessor, which includes 3,145 pieces and costs $249.99 / €249.99.

Given Tyrannosaurus rex could grow to 12m long and Triceratops could reach 9m long, it’s fair to say that these two sets may not be in scale with one another. That would perhaps be disappointing for anyone collecting them both, although it may also be sweet relief for anyone trying to figure out how they’re going to display two giant LEGO dino skeletons.

Triceratops was a fairly safe bet for the next one of these sets (if one is indeed coming at all), as – like the T. rex before it – the LEGO Group has already released a standalone skull under its Dinosaur Fossils range. 76969 Dinosaur Fossils: Triceratops Skull debuted in January 2025 and includes 468 pieces for £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99.

Unlike 76968 Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex, however, which carries over 76964 Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull’s build almost one-for-one, there’s a fair chance that 77985 Triceratops Skeleton will go in a slightly different direction if its rumoured piece count is accurate. Even taking into account the elements used for the skull’s display stand, it’s hard to imagine only 700 or so pieces being enough to build out the rest of the skeleton to the same scale.

We’ll find out one way or the other in just a few months’ time, as 77985 Triceratops Skeleton is rumoured to go on sale in June. For now, take all details with the customary pinch of salt…
