To help with these play features, the colour scheme of the original LEGO set was modified to ensure a clear experience for everyone without drastically changing the uniform design of the old Classic Space model.
"It's all black and yellow so it's very hard to show people how to play with the set the right way because the LEGO Group always considers methods of play and how to play with a set's colours," explained Jae Won Lee to Zusammengebaut.
"The inside structures use different colours, it's just on the outside and exterior that it's black and I wanted to put some more red on it even though the original Blacktron Renegade is black and yellow only. The red acts as colour spot points to help with play."

By featuring the red elements mostly in places where a play feature or modular connectivity is located, it encourages enthusiasts to interact with those parts of the build and makes it easier for younger fans to spot the functions too.
