LEGO 40613 Mini Disney Palace of Agrabah is missing a certain something

An early look at LEGO 40613 Mini Disney Palace of Agrabah highlights a gap in its potential that sets it apart from other mini-builds.

The LEGO Group is somewhat in a mini-build era; we've got 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds built to microfigure scale, as well as a wider shift from LEGO Star Wars helmets to midi-scale ships, like 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer. It's no surprise then that LEGO Disney recently revealed another microfigure-scaled Disney Castle, built in a similar style to 40478 Mini Disney Castle and 40521 Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion.

LEGO YouTuber AshnFlash got his hands on 40613 Mini Disney Palace of Agrabah for an early review. While he is a self-confessed fan of mini-builds, AshnFlash had to admit his disappointment that the set, unlike its predecessors 40478 and 40521, doesn't include any minifigures.

"There are a couple of fun references inside of this thing, just like the other two microscale Disney sets had – but noticeably absent: there's no minifigure," the YouTuber points out. "I think that's a huge disappointment. That makes this price that much more difficult to swallow for some people. If it did have a figure, let's say someone exclusive like the Sultan or even updated versions of characters we've had before...that definitely would have led to them purchasing this set."

It's certainly a fair criticism. At £39.99 / $39.99 / €39.99, it's slightly higher than you might expect for a 506-piece set. Considering there was an obvious choice for an exclusive minifigure (the Sultan, as AshnFlash pointed out), or even an updated Genie, Aladdin, or Jasmine, it does seem a shame to break from the pattern of microscale castles and unique minifigure that's been established before.
