LEGO 40725 Cherry Blossoms to receive theme-based redesign

A lesser-known member of the LEGO Botanicals range is being welcomed into the range with a new box design targeting an older audience.

The certification page on the official online store has added a series of documents, confirming that 40725 Cherry Blossoms will be properly joining the LEGO Botanicals range through a new box design, embracing the black box layout. While 40725 Cherry Blossoms was released in 2024 as a Creator model (but with no such branding on the box), it fits right in as part of the Botanicals range and has been an unofficial member of the collection since its launch.

The Creator nature of the build means that it has a drastically different and brighter box design than those of the Botanicals range, though. It's one of many floral builds to feature this box design, yet they are consistently named amongst other Botanicals builds.

Finally, the box for 40725 Cherry Blossoms is being redesigned to be more in line with the LEGO Botanicals set, embracing the darker colour scheme with a new graphic advertising the name of the set. Most importantly, LEGO Botanicals is now listed on the bottom left, welcoming it into the collection officially.

The build itself does not appear to be changing and still features 438 pieces. It's hard to say for certain due to the low-quality image provided on the official document, but it would be much easier for the LEGO Group to just change the box design, and there's no need to upgrade the build to fit better with Botanicals.

The black box is still colourful, but is notably less so than the previous design. It's part of the packaging redesign for adult-oriented sets that debuted in 2020, aiming to 'make it easier for adults to find their next LEGO set and do so in a way that is inspired by their passion'.

We don't know when this new box design for 40725 Cherry Blossoms will debut, but it's increasingly unlikely that the LEGO Group would introduce such a major change for a set before the end of the year.
