LEGO 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops officially revealed

The LEGO Group has officially revealed the latest addition to the NINJAGO City modular buildings collection, 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops.

Situated across a 32x32-stud baseplate – making it equal in footprint to 70620 NINJAGO City and 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens’ main structure – this 3,244-piece set continues what is now becoming a biennial series from LEGO NINJAGO. This time it’s anchored around a mech bay, complete with a customisable mech and a bunch of armour and sticker pieces to tinker with it as you see fit.

Rising either side of that bay are two separate four-storey buildings, each housing a series of removable apartments, stores and restaurants (as we saw to some degree with 2023’s 71799 NINJAGO City Markets). There are also two fully-functioning cranes and 10 minifigures in the box, including Zane, Pixal, Dorama, Dr. LaRow, Harumi, Twitchy Tim, a model shop owner, a workshop mechanic, a restaurant worker and a Dragonian tourist.

That last one should clue you in most of all to the fact that 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops is tied specifically to Dragons Rising, as should the presence of characters like Dorama and Dr. LaRow (both making their minifigure debuts here, as are Harumi and Twitchy Tim). The model also includes a brick-built version of Dorama’s puppet for good measure.

The finished model stands 41cm tall, 25cm wide and 25cm deep (matching the footprint of a 32x32-stud-wide building as expected). And while recent NINJAGO City sets have towered not only in size but price, 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops is pretty affordable by comparison: it’s due to retail for £219.99 / $249.99 / €249.99 when it launches on March 1, 2025.

That’s not quite the cheapest set in the range at face value, as 2018’s 70657 NINJAGO City Docks came in at £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99. But adjusted for inflation, that set would today cost £256 in the UK – so 71837 NINJAGO City Workshops is technically also the cheapest set in the range so far. Good news for anyone who’s struggling to justify the £319.99 / $369.99 / €369.99 required for 71799 NINJAGO City Markets, then.
