The highlight of LEGO Jurassic World
Still, the level of detail in the colour scheme of the LEGO Allosaurus is incredibly appealing, with signs of battle damage and scars that mesh well with the shaping of the new head element. Even though it reuses the Indominous Rex's body, legs and arms, the LEGO Allosaurus is successful where it needs to be and suitably sized considering the price of the set.
Thankfully, while the dinosaur is the best part of
The design of this vehicle is nothing new but various sets have proven that this design is functional, playable and visually appealing and the mint green colour works notably well too. There's space for two minifigures though the rider on the back isn't too secure.
The small drone is much more interesting, opting for a design that appears to be new, but takes lessons from various other LEGO drones from LEGO Collectible Minifigures series and LEGO Jurassic World.
Despite the small rotors and minimal footprint of the drone, the build isn't lacking in details, with some slopes that add key shaping without adding too much to the footprint. It fits neatly on to the back of the main build without drawing attention away from the truck.
The main model in
The versatile vehicle may seem simple at first glance but the LEGO truck is hiding a few interesting secrets, including a small but notable engine under a hood that is unfortunately difficult to remove. The sleeping space has room for one minifigure but is entirely functional, and a single sticker at the back adds some fun details to admire that will hopefully make more sense when Chaos Theory starts streaming.
The truck is attached to and hauls a giant yellow and green transport trailer for the Allosaurus or the quad bike. There's more than enough room for either in the space and the colours contrast notably with that of the Allosaurus, drawing your eye accordingly. The Allosaurus still has room to move from within the trailer, as limited as it may be, meaning there's potential for posing and more scenes than you might expect.
The set's main play feature is contained within this trailer. The sides of the transport can come clattering down with the push of a lever – likely a result of the Allosaurus breaking out. The function works well and is easy to reset, but not easy to trigger accidentally – an appreciated touch.

Kenji, Darius and Yaz are included here and each sports an outfit reflective of their iconic styles and personalities, matching what can be seen in Chaos Theory's trailer. The printing is adequate, as is to be expected, and the torsos will find plenty of use beyond LEGO Jurassic World.
The face prints are good too with an alternate expression provided for Yaz and Kenji. Unfortunately, Darius's hair piece doesn't allow for one and the character is surprisingly calm while chasing an Allosaurus.
The generic guard is much less interesting but the inclusion of a hearing aid print is appreciated. It's the least impressive of the four minifigures but that speaks only to the quality of the main trio, as there is nothing inherently bad about the guard.

--- LEGO Jurassic World 76966 Dinosaur Missions: Allosaurus Transport Truck pros and cons ---
The versatility of everything aside from the Allosaurus is appreciated too, as LEGO Jurassic World continues to be a source of realistic LEGO vehicles for various displays. The set's titular dinosaur may feel somewhat familiar, but the reuse of the Indominous Rex body continues to be a winning formula for the theme.
It's hard to fault the design team for making use of the element once more but at least the new head piece brings everything together into a convincing LEGO Allosaurus. It features an impressive level of detail that serves its purpose in the set well. LEGO Jurassic World enthusiasts only planning on picking up one set from the theme this summer should strongly consider
