Mercedes has been lagging behind where it should be in Formula 1 for the last few years, but how does its latest LEGO Speed Champions adaptation fare?
LEGO Speed Champions 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 doesn't capture Mercedes AMP Petronas Formula 1 at its finest hour, with the last few years not being kind to the motorsports team. However, you don't need to be fast on the track to inspire an impressive LEGO Formula 1 set, as certain other sets in this bumper wave of Speed Champions cars will prove.
Can 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 succeed where its real-life counterpart can't? Read on for a closer look at every sticker and curve on the LEGO Speed Champions 2025 set.

Tracing every curve of Formula 1

More so than any other brick-built car in the LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 wave, 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 captures the finer curves that a Formula 1 car needs to perform at the highest level in motorsports. The rounded elements at the rear of the engine intake and the sculpting along the flanks means you can quite literally trace a finger along where the airflow should travel.
Part of the joy of building Formula 1 cars on this minute level is being able to learn more about the astonishingly detailed machines – and 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 achieves that like no other. Angular elements behind the front wheel axis capture the unique bargeboards of the Mercedes Formula 1 car, while the rounded elements – as opposed to the square tiles you find on the other sets – make 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 feel far more sleek and aerodynamic.
The repurposed ski for the upper intake is something that a lot of sets employ, but it's positioned higher on 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15, leading to a sharper outline that earns the brick-built car Mercedes' classic nickname, the Silver Arrow.
Printing captures the finer details

A lot of the LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 branding is stickered and 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 is no exception. However, the iconic Mercedes star – representing land, sea, and air (the three elements dominated by Mercedes engines) – is thankfully printed. While a lot of the rear engine intakes' branding are printed across the wave, you'll be especially grateful that the three-pronged stars are printed. Nobody wants to spend hour making sure the two star-stickered elements point in the same direction.
In general, 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15's stickers are not as tricky to get right as many from the wave, leaning into the rounded and swooping shapes of the car to make for forgiving sticker placements. The vast majority can line up easily with straight edges, rather than needing to be angled in particular – and obscure – ways in order to have the same effect.
A LEGO set that knows it's a LEGO set

Coming to accuracy now, 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 is not quite a one-to-one replica of the real Formula 1 car. Instead, it manages to focus in on what's most important about the Mercedes brand in motorsports: the sculpted shape, the prestige of the Mercedes brand, and the blue and silver colours the team is known for.
The use of silver and medium azure printed and stickered elements, contrasting with the black, is a prime example of where authenticity has been compromised in view of the final effect. The car appears to be more silver and blue than the real thing – but that's no bad thing.
Mercedes is not a Formula 1 team known for having a black car, despite the sparingly coloured livery of recent years. It's the Silver Arrow; it needs to be silver (and blue). 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 doesn't shy away from that, in the same way that it doesn't shy away from capturing the finer curves of the car's iconic silhouette.
77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 is a LEGO set that knows it's a LEGO set and delivers on the promise of being a LEGO Speed Champions homage to the storied team. Is it an exact copy in miniature? No. Is it a pleasure to build and a delight to display? Absolutely.
Honest opinion: 77244 Mercedes-AMG F1 W15 is an impressive set that, rather than attempting to be a wholly accurate replica of the real thing, delivers a LEGO-fied version of an iconic Formula 1 brand.
