It may not look like much, but LEGO Insiders reward 6550802 Chronometer completes a trio of sets based around the dramatic voyage to the Antarctic on the Endurance.
Launching November 29 is 10335 The Endurance (review here), as well as a limited-edition gift-with-purchase, 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat (review here). Rounding out a trio of sets linked to the remarkable story of adventure and survival from Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew is 6550802 Chronometer, a redeemable reward at the LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre from November 29, while stocks last.
This is a LEGO recreation of a marine chronometer, a highly-accurate and portable device used at sea to determine longitude. For those aware of Shackleton and his crew’s journey back from the Antarctic in lifeboats once the Endurance had been lost to the ice, this will have been one of the tools he used to navigate the vast distances of ocean that they rowed.
Whilst the build from a LEGO perspective isn’t that interesting and the final model isn’t the most inspired either, 6550802 Chronometer does add a nice touch to a small collection of sets designed to mark more than 100 years since the Endurance sailed off on adventure and Shackleton and his crew started an unexpected journey that would last many, many months.
6550802 Chronometer is redeemable for 2,400 points, an amount of points earned through the LEGO loyalty program from a spend of £300, and an amount of points that can otherwise be redeemed for £15 off a future LEGO.com or LEGO store purchase. As the least interesting of this trio of Endurance-based sets and with a relatively high ‘spend’ of points required, it’s likely to be the one most of us overlook. Nice to have, but not as nice as 10335 The Endurance or 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat.
6550802 Chronometer is available from November 29 at the LEGO Insiders Rewards Centre for a spend of 2,400 points, while stocks last.
