Multiple retailers have slashed the price of LEGO City’s new arctic train by a massive 40% in an early Black Friday deal, offering a convenient shortcut to motorising this year’s Winter Village train.
Amazon and Very are leading the charge on 60470 Explorer Train this Black Friday, as both third-party retailers have discounted the summer 2025 LEGO City set by almost 40%. That brings it down from the initial RRP of £179.99 to only £109.99 – a £70 saving on the 1,517-piece set, which comes with everything you need to motorise it right out of the box.
That’s also handy if you’ve already bought (or are planning to buy) 10361 Winter Holiday Train, which requires the same set of motors to get it running. You can pilfer the electronics and track from the Explorer Train for the holiday season, then come January pack away the Christmas gear and resume service on the arctic express.
And even if you don’t have a seasonal setup that requires a motor, hub and remote control, there’s enough in 60470 Explorer Train to make it worth picking up all on its own. It’s a nice change of pace from LEGO City’s usual combo of passenger and cargo trains, comes with a unique winter-themed Johnny Thunder minifigure on a zip line, and brings you one step closer to building your own LEGO Snowpiercer tribute.
