LEGO BrickLink frigate named 'most ambitious set in program'

A review of the biggest LEGO BrickLink Designer Program set to date has named it the most ambitious in the program so far, and a must-have.

At £319.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 and 4,087 pieces, 910059 Privateer Frigate Fortuna is the biggest and most expensive LEGO BrickLink Designer Program set so far, setting some lofty expectations for the Pirates model. An early review of the build from Brick Quest has surfaced, giving nothing but praise to the colossal vessel ahead of crowdfunding next week.

The review specifically notes the design of the cannons, which are brick-built instead of using the traditional moulded element, and can slide forwards and back with ease thanks to a simple mechanism.

The sticker usage is also praised, despite there being a great deal of them. The numerous stickers allow you to customise 910059 Privateer Frigate Fortuna to your liking, switching out flags and nameplates accordingly. They also serve to add detail to the stove, though the reviewer wishes for a more spacious kitchen area below deck.

"This is a really amazing set to build, and I have no doubt anybody picking up this set is really going to enjoy it, especially if you're into history or ships," states Brick Quest.

The review also discusses the value of 910059 Privateer Frigate Fortuna compared to the £319.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 price tag, and it's bad news for your bank account. It's said that the value is good, especially for the 20 minifigures which feature some rarer elements from 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine in high quantities.

"For overall value, the minifigures in these BrickLink sets have all just used existing pieces from official LEGO sets. I would still love to see some custom minifigures coming out of the program, but at least in this set, we get some semi-rare torsos if you want a lot of them from 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine. Overall, I think this set is a very solid value for what you get."

Pre-orders for 910059 Privateer Frigate Fortuna start on February 16 at 8:00am PT alongside the four other models in the seventh series of the BrickLink Designer Program.
