LEGO Disney Wish set rumoured for October 2023

A LEGO Disney set based on the upcoming animated movie Wish is rumoured to be on the way later this year, once more celebrating the House of Mouse’s 100th anniversary.

The LEGO Group has gone ham for Disney’s centennial in 2023, but it sounds like it’s not done yet. According to Instagram user 1414falconfan (via German market site globus.de), LEGO set 43231 – which has a codename of ‘residence’ – will tie into Wish, a new animated Disney movie due for release later this year. The model is said to contain 509 pieces, retail for $49.99 and arrive on shelves on October 1.

Wish combines computer-generated animation with more traditional watercolour animation, and basically sounds like an origin story for the shooting star that arcs over the Disney castle at the beginning of the studio’s movies. The film follows 17-year-old Asha, who makes a plea to the stars after sensing her kingdom is in peril – and gets an answer from a magical star named, erm, Star, which has the power to grant wishes.

The movie stars Ariana DeBose as Asha, along with Chris Pine as Kingdom of Rosas ruler King Magnifico and Alan Tudyk as Valentino, a talking goat. Standard Disney stuff, then. Wish is due to debut in cinemas on November 22, 2023, almost two months after its rumoured tie-in LEGO set supposedly arrives on shelves. 1414falconfan speculates that 43231 will include mini-dolls rather than minifigures, but that detail should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

The next LEGO Disney sets to launch from Billund will be 43230 Walt Disney Tribute Camera and 43232 Peter Pan & Wendy’s Flight over London, which are both due to release on September 1 – and can both be pre-ordered from LEGO.com right now.
