Some of the LEGO Group's recent gifts-with-purchase have shone the spotlight on an illuminating evolution taking place before our eyes.
The recently-revealed 40772 Celebration Series: Luminous Ghost is the latest LEGO gift-with-purchase, and the newest one to include a light brick, which are starting to become an annual guest in GWPs. The 167-piece build not only flips the subject matter of 40697 Halloween Pumpkin with a glowing ghost and pumpkin side build, but it's the third promotional creation to include the electronic element.
The first appearance of a LEGO light brick in a GWP was 2023's 40600 Disney 100 Years Celebration, where it was used as part of a projector to celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary. Another was featured in 2024's 40697 Halloween Pumpkin, illuminating the inside of the LEGO pumpkin.
40772 Celebration Series: Luminous Ghost now joins this limited line-up of GWPs as the 2025 entry in what is becoming an annual collection of light brick gifts. Whether it will continue in 2026 has yet to be confirmed, and we don't currently know when 40772 Celebration Series: Luminous Ghost will be available and with what qualifying purchases.
The ghost build also continues the recent trend of light bricks being included in smaller sets, including 42642 Friendship Movie Night. It would be interesting to see this extend to other electronic elements, but for now, it's still a fairly recent revolution for light bricks.
We'll let you know as soon as we learn how to acquire 40772 Celebration Series: Luminous Ghost, though a release at some point next month would be most suitable.
