LEGO Ideas modular hospital project may be ill-fated

An interesting addition to the modular buildings range posits a LEGO Ideas modular hospital set, but past models indicate an ill fate for it.

We've been waiting years for a hospital of any kind to join the modular LEGO street and while there has been no such addition officially just yet, LEGO Ideas user Ubertoys is pitching exactly that and has reached 10,000 supporters in just under nine months.

The three-floor hospital building includes an operating room, an MRI scanner, a ward, hospital beds, a reception and even a garage for the included ambulance. Vehicle-compatible features aren't common in the LEGO modular buildings collection and in this case, the inclusion of a garage doesn't take away from the rest of the spaces and what the hospital can offer.

As impressive as the modular hospital is, 21353 The Botanical Garden recently demonstrated that modular models don't have much luck in the LEGO Ideas review rounds. This was the first modular-compatible build to be selected for a future set but the fan design was altered to remove modular compatibility beyond the fact that it's on baseplates.

To be fair, gardens don't usually sit in the middle of a city unlike hospitals and modular-compatible models outside of LEGO Icons are allowed thanks to the three Marvel buildings that you can add to the street.

While we wait to see what becomes of the modular hospital, it joins 42 other projects in the third 2024 review in a busy week for round.
