The LEGO Group has shaved 12 months off the expected shelf lives of four LEGO Ideas sets, giving them roughly a year left on sale before they retire for good.
21318 Tree House, 21327 Typewriter, 21332 The Globe and 21340 Tales of the Space Age were all scheduled to leave production by the end of December 2025, but will now retire by December 2024. That makes for a total of eight LEGO Ideas sets retiring next year, or more than twice the number that are departing in 2023 (21325 Medieval Blacksmith, 21326 Winnie the Pooh and 21337 Table Football).
As the crowdsourced theme cranks up the number of sets it’s turning out per year, it’s not so shocking to see more sets making way. But there are some surprises in the particular mix of products: 21318 Tree House has been around since 2019 and feels like an evergreen set in many ways, while 21340 Tales of the Space Age only arrived on shelves earlier this year. If it’s gone by the end of 2024, it will have had an unusually short run for an Ideas set.
The rest of the collection is currently earmarked for retirement in 2025, including the newly-released 21344 The Orient Express Train, but those dates could change.
