LEGO Monkie Kid teased

It has been confirmed that the LEGO Group's new theme, Monkie Kid, will be revealed on May 15.

LEGO Monkie Kid is on the way, as LEGO Senior Creative Director Simon Lucas has teased on Twitter. It is a mysterious new LEGO theme, with the teaser image hinting at the Chinese inspiration behind the new product range.

Lucas's tweet confirms that it will be fully revealed on May 15, declaring: "Today I can officially tease something BIG that I’ve been working on for the last 2 years. I’m so excited to share more on May 15th".

The Chinese text reads "Coming soon" and "Meet the hero", adding to the mystery for those who didn't see a batch of images that were published online a few weeks ago.

Regular readers will know that the LEGO Group is seeking to rapidly expand its consumer base in China, so it is not too surprising that this new theme will be inspired by cultural touchstones from that part of the world.

It will be the second original new LEGO theme this year, following the launch of LEGO DOTS.
