One pick in The LEGO Group's early 2026 Build a Minifigure NINJAGO range can be explained by a trailer, but it may only be a strong coincidence.
Earlier this year, seven minifigures were released exclusively in LEGO stores to celebrate 15 years of NINJAGO. These included characters and outfits from across the eras, including the first young Lloyd minifigure since 2021. Upon the reveal of this collection, Lloyd's place in the range was explained by a member of the NINJAGO design team. The intention was to have a ninja in the selection, but one that would still be appealing to collectors.
"We need at least one regular ninja for the non-hardcore fans in the mix, and I thought at least the kid version of Lloyd is not THAT common," wrote Senior Model Designer Lee Chi Wing on Instagram late last year.
It's an apt explanation, but a new trailer for the fourth season of NINJAGO: Dragons Rising has us speculating whether it's the full story. We're about to cover spoilers for this trailer, which you can watch for yourself by clicking the embedded video below.
The new trailer confirms that Lloyd will be meeting with a younger version of himself in the fourth season. This is to be the version of Lloyd we never got to see, since he was aged up from a child with the magical tea early in NINJAGO's life.
Not only does this appear to mean the return of the original voice actor for Lloyd, Jillian Michaels, but it's another explanation for that young Lloyd minifigure earlier this year. Whether that minifigure is connected to this new season is unknown, but it would be a remarkable coincidence if they're not.
You may still be able to find the pieces for that Lloyd minifigure in your local LEGO Stores' Build-a-Minifigure station, but there have been multiple new selections of pieces since their release. A young Lloyd minifigure is also available in the retired 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens. That latter minifigure comes with a tan bowl cut hair piece, which can be yours on BrickLink for around £0.49.
The fourth season of LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising will be released on April 2 around the world.
