LEGO Star Trek Enterprise is already proving divisive amongst fans

The first-ever official LEGO Star Trek set is proving to be a particularly polarising model amongst the wider LEGO fan community.

The long-awaited and highly-anticipated 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D will finally warp into view later this month, with this year’s big Black Friday release due to arrive on November 28, 2025.

The massive model appears to be a fairly accurate recreation of the Galaxy-class ship from Star Trek: The Next Generation, but it’s a set that’s already managed to ruffle a few feathers in the wider LEGO fan community.

From the shape of the craft and its price tag to the LEGO Icon’s build’s minifigure selection and missing features, there are plenty of voices vying for attention when it comes to criticism and praise for 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

“Am I in the minority of thinking this should look a lot better?" said albatrossity on TrekMovie. "The D is one smooth, sleek starship, and the octagonal blocks on the underside of the saucer are decidedly not. It doesn’t look so horrible from the top, and the detachable saucer is a good inclusion, but overall I’m just not impressed! Certainly not $400 impressed.”

“C’mon, LEGO Group,” added Roadhog59 on X (formerly Twitter). “You forgot the phaser strip on the underside of the saucer, while you did remember it top side. Attention to detail, please.”

“I'm so bummed because a LEGO Enterprise-D is something I've literally been dreaming about for 30 years!” chimed in Data_Chandler on Reddit. “But it's just... not good. I feel like I've seen better MOCs. I don't understand why everything is so angled, the general shape is fine, but the saucer is filled in so bizarrely. If I saw it on my feed as a MOC, I'd maybe give it a thumbs up, but buy it for $400?!”

Yet it’s not all negativity for 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, with many in the community praising the first-ever LEGO Star Trek model and marvelling at it finally being realised in brick-built form at last.

“Really hope this catches on and then LEGO commit to a Trek theme!” exclaimed juliandepontes on Instagram. “I wanna see Klingons, Vulcans, Romulans, the Borg etc. in the next couple of years! But hey, wishful geek thinking right now!”

“I can confidently say that finally, after all of these years, getting this official set released is a dream come true for so many LEGO/Trek fans,” said LT587 on Brickset. “The design is fantastic, especially at its scale. Also, there would be no way to fit any kind of interior into a ship of this size, without making it overly fat and compromising structural integrity.

“I know many have complained about certain aspects of the set, like the octagonal plating (which, to my mind, are basically unavoidable when considering the medium), but this is a dream come true for me. I’ll be there opening day in my TNG science officer uniform to pick it up.”

You’ll be able to make up your own mind about 10356 USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D when it’s released on November 28 priced at £349.99 in the UK, $399.99 in the US and €379.99 in Europe. Insiders members can also get their hands on a free 40768 Type-15 Shuttlepod GWP from November 28 to December 1 when they buy the LEGO Icons model (while stocks last).
