The LEGO building instructions hub has confirmed the existence of 76232 The Hoopty, an upcoming set based on MCU sequel The Marvels.
Searching for product number 76232 in the building instructions portal teases a brief product description for the unusually-named The Hoopty, which starts: “Race through space with Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Photon and Goose the Flerken aboard The Hoopty…” It seems pretty safe to assume the set will include those four named characters, all of whom are set to appear in the upcoming sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel.
None of those characters will be new to LEGO, though. Captain Marvel has already appeared in nine different sets – most recently 76196 The Avengers Advent Calendar – while our one and only Ms. Marvel minifigure arrived in 2017’s 76076 Captain America Jet Pursuit. Photon, better known as Monica Rambeau, popped up in 2021’s 71031 Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures, and Goose the Flerken (or cat) debuted in 2019’s 76127 Captain Marvel and The Skrull Attack.
There’s a fair chance any or all of their designs might be new, at least – and the identity of ‘The Hoopty’ is a complete mystery at this stage. Wiktionary tells us that ‘hoopty’ is slang for ‘an old, worn-out car’ (who knew?), so presumably it’s a nickname for a much-loved vehicle in the movie, akin to the Milano or Bowie in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
The rumour mill has long been suggesting that 76232 will retail for $89.99 and include just 420 pieces, with a recently-revised release date of October 1, 2023. 76232 The Hoopty’s presence in the building instructions server suggests an official reveal is imminent, so we’ll hopefully get confirmation on those details one way or the other very soon.
The Marvels hits cinemas on November 10, 2023.
