Marvel Studios' I Am Groot Season 2 explains new set

The release of 76249 Venomised Groot long after 76217 I am Groot may be down to a second series of the Marvel series of the same name.

I am Groot has been officially confirmed for a second season with its first trailer now online. Five new shorts will release on Disney+ on September 6, around one month after the recent release of 76249 Venomised Groot. It's not uncommon for Marvel models attached to specific projects to release around a month or two before them. Note that 76217 I am Groot was released near the shorts series' start too.

While nothing on its box indicates a specific connection to I Am Groot Season 2, 76249 Venomised Groot is only otherwise connected to 76217 I am Groot from a year before it. The timing of this new set's release and the arrival of the second season seems unlikely to be a coincidence and may explain the model, at least partially.

There's no guarantee that the symbiote will appear in the second season of the series given that it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the Venom symbiote is still a new and unexplored concept. Should it be anything like the first season, I Am Groot Season 2 will be fairly light-hearted with no huge narrative revelations to note.

However, it will have a snowman with lasers, The Watcher, an ancient temple, ice cream and Groot with a nose. The latter might inspire you to customise 76217 I am Groot and 76249 Venomised Groot, no matter how strange it looks.

I Am Groot's second season arrives on Disney+ on September 6 with five shorts, all streaming at once. The first season is still available to watch too. 76249 Venomised Groot and 76217 I am Groot are both available now too.
