Need wrapping paper this Christmas? Just use LEGO instructions

If you're in need of wrapping paper this holiday season, why not use LEGO instructions?

That's the inspired suggestion of LEGO DOTS designer Laura Perron. Of course, that means bringing yourself to taking scissors to your beloved instruction manuals. And if you're anything like the fans who replied to Laura on Twitter, you might find that idea a little sacrilegious.

Not everyone keeps their LEGO instructions, though. Many a book finds its way into the recycling bins at Brick Fanatics HQ. And with good reason: they not only take up space, but they're also available online at LEGO.com. So if you ever do need to rebuild an old model, you can just load up the digital version instead.

Recycling (or in this case, reusing) instruction manuals also makes us feel a little better about the damage LEGO products do to the environment. The company may be all about sustainability these days, but the paper for those instructions still came from somewhere.

Plus, you can't tell us you wouldn't love to receive a Christmas present wrapped in LEGO instructions (as long as they weren't yours). Anyone can buy LEGO-themed wrapping paper, but there's something unique about seeing a gift wrapped in a genuine LEGO instruction manual.

In case you haven't guessed, we're very much with Laura on this one. Cut up your instruction manuals! Wrap your Christmas presents in them! Introduce a little anarchy into your LEGO life! What have you got to lose?
