Ranking LEGO NINJAGO summer 2026 sets: a superfan's list

LEGO NINJAGO's summer 2026 sets include some of its most unique to date, play features to display, and this superfan is ecstatic for the wave.

The summer wave of LEGO NINJAGO's 2026 models has been unveiled on Recognised LEGO Fan Media Masters of Brickjitzu’s YouTube channel, continuing the Legends range with more display sets than ever. That's with the usual assortment of season-based builds, too. While there are not as many brand-new minifigures as usual, the builds on display are among the theme's most interesting to date.

Read on to see how this superfan has ranked all nine LEGO NINJAGO summer 2026 sets, not including the previously-revealed 71867 X-1 Ninja Charger.

9 – 71862 Lloyd’s Dragon Mech Battle Pack

The smallest set in the summer 2026 range is 71862 Lloyd’s Dragon Mech Battle Pack, essentially repeating what we saw in 71851 Kai's Dragon Mech Battle Pack. Instead of the Earth monster, this model comes with a Loyalist, and the mech is red instead of green. There's not much that makes this set stand out. Though this model sits at the bottom of my personal ranking, the included claw elements are certain to be useful in upgrading the existing Draconus Form minifigures.

8 – 71865 Zane’s Ice Dragon Battle

Much of the NINJAGO fanbase is excited about the 4+ 71865 Zane’s Ice Dragon Battle for the anticipated large form of the Acid Monster. While I can recognise the novelty of the creature getting a bigger form to complete the original trio of monsters, the build just doesn't excite me. It's expectedly simplified as a 4+ set, and getting the Acid Monsters with normal legs is interesting. This particular NINJAGO summer 2026 set simply isn't for me.

7 – 71869 Land Bounty

I'm eager to see how the Land Bounty comes back in the next season of Dragons Rising, especially considering the box art across the new wave. The 1,214-piece 71869 Land Bounty doesn't just repeat the ship-shaped truck from the Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu range; it innovates by making the set split apart in three ways. That and the exclusive Earth Monster are why it sits as high as it does in my ranking, but I don't find it quite as appealing as the rest of the summer wave.

6 – 71864 Kai and Cole’s Combiner Vehicles

A personal standout in the NINJAGO summer 2026 sets would be 71864 Kai and Cole’s Combiner Vehicles. This duo of land-based models don't look to be some of the more expensive builds in the next wave, and they feature the new Ice Monster minifigure to boot. The most exciting part of this set to me, though, is the ability to combine the two vehicles to create drastically different looks.

5 – 71872 Ultra Dragon Battle

I've seen reactions online from many NINJAGO enthusiasts that would likely put 71872 Ultra Dragon Battle at the top of their personal rankings, but I'm not nearly as captured by the build as others. On the one hand, it's great to see the Great Devourer depicted again, and the suite of new minifigures raises some exciting questions. On the other hand, I don't love that the Ultra Dragon has identical head designs and is now more humanoid than dragon. It's my least anticipated of the three new Legends models.

4 – 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs

While I haven't been collecting all of the Titan Mechs, I'm ranking 71870 The Twin Titan Mechs in the fourth spot for how much it will please the NINJAGO community as a whole. The duo of mech models are rife with detail, and they come with a display stand to pose one in-flight. The minifigure selection with the option to depict Kai and Nya or two new characters is also unique, and I can't wait to find out more about them.

3 – 71868 Wyldfyre’s Transforming Dragon Mech

It's great to see some of NINJAGO's newest characters being treated to their own huge model, and 71868 Wyldfyre’s Transforming Dragon Mech also packs in one of the theme's most innovative features. I'm looking forward to seeing how fluid the transformation feature is in-person. The 821-piece model blends two of NINJAGO's core subjects into one build, complete with Beatrix's new form. It's overall a promising package in the summer 2026 range.

2 – 71863 Zilvar and Grimtak

71863 Zilvar and Grimtak seems likely to be one of the most affordable summer 2026 NINJAGO sets at 232 pieces, including a new and exclusive minifigure. Zilvar's identity will be great to learn more about, and getting those new claw pieces in a more accessible set is always good to see. It's Grimtak that has caught my eye the most in 71863 Zilvar and Grimtak, though. The combination of dragon and gorilla reminds me strongly of a mix of Hero Factory and Legends of Chima – two memorable themes from my childhood.

1 – 71871 Battle at the Dragon’s Blade

Easily my favourite LEGO NINJAGO summer 2026 set is 71871 Battle at the Dragon’s Blade. I've seen impressions online that share disappointment regarding the minifigure mech and dragon models relative to other Legends builds, but the rest of the set makes up for them. The displayable dragon skull and giant sword have me eager to find a place to showcase this build in my home, and the new minifigures are the cherry on top.
