The Star Wars Lando project is not happening after all

The planned Star Wars Lando project – once envisioned to be a series and then a movie – isn't moving forward as revealed by its director.

While promoting his new docuseries – Hollywood Black – Collider inquired as to what is happening with the Star Wars Lando project with its director Justin Simien, who was revealed to be grieving the project after it was cancelled.

"It was pretty developed. Yeah, there was a Bible, there was concept art, there were scripts, but it just wasn’t meant to be.”

Given the lack of official announcements related to the project over the last few years, this outcome was to be expected. At least we now know that we won’t be seeing Donald Glover return as Lando Calrissian via this project.

Glover portrayed a young Lando in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story and while this project won’t be moving forward, there’s still a lot for Star Wars enthusiasts to look forward to in the near and far future. A previous report from Variety might explain why Simiens believes this project to be over with too and it might still be in production as a movie instead.

Later this month, the new Star Wars: Outlaws game launches and Disney’s D23 takes place next week with Star Wars announcements expected. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was recently confirmed for release later this year too and its corresponding LEGO set is now available – 75374 The Onyx Cinder
