Young LEGO fan helps design new LEGOLAND Castle Hotel

The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is opening a new Castle Hotel this July, and asked young LEGO fans to help contribute with their suggestions for a model to be part of the new experience. After sifting through the entries and holding a vote on Facebook, a winner has been announced. The winner is James Waine, 11 years old from Darlington, after he won a public vote on the final designs. His concept of a knight on horseback fits in well with the Castle theme. The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort have declared that he will be 'an official designer for the Resort’s new knight and wizard themed Castle Hotel'. Further information has been shared by the LEGOLAND team:

James’ tournament ready LEGO knight on horseback design, decorated with shields, will now be brought to life as a 6ft LEGO® model by LEGOLAND Model Makers and placed in the hotel ahead of its opening in July 2017. The prize will also see James place the final brick on his model at a grand unveiling, before becoming one of the first guests to stay at the magical new hotel.

On hearing he was crowned winner of the national competition James, commented, “It’s a dream come true because I want to be a theme park designer when I grow up! I can’t wait to see my model made out of LEGO and to stay in the hotel - I really want to sleep in one of knight themed bedrooms.”

The competition’s runners-up, Charlie Hamdi, aged nine from Hereford, and Enya, aged nine from West Sussex, have also won a stay at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Hotel as a prize for their impressive entries.

The new hotel will open on July 1, 2017 and will be located between Atlantis and the existing LEGOLAND Hotel.
